Doug from NYC made the trip. Lucky, our dear departed general and new resident of St. Louis brought a group of kids ready to play, including Nick Two Scoops who sported a very interesting goal-tending strategy which involved laying down the bike and standing on it, bypassing the foot-down (dabbers for the cannucks) rule. Fun times were had by all, no major injuries were sustained by people who weren’t Crandle or Joe’s fork, and in the end, a Chicago Team (kind of) won the first Midwests played on hardcourt with smallball.

Part of the trip back from the ESPI 3 held in Washington DC involved a discussion about how I did not take advantage of my size very often. With that in mind, I tried adding a little more smash to the game. That’s not all there is to it though, as in spite of knocking Lodi, Brian, and Kremin around during a game against one of the Milwaukee teams, my team (with the talents of Matthew Lane and Aaron Brown) did not score. I suppose I should try to smash within reason.

The Chicago NACCC and Chicago Bike Polo are throwing this year’s premiere polo tournament. Why? Because we love all of you that much. Host a big tourny, extend our hospitality to all of you who were extremely gracious to put us up for a night or 3. For all of you who, when confronted with a handful of people from Chicago spilling from a van rubbing their eyes after a long haul, slapped a beer or a cup of coffee in our hands and took us to a bed or a polo court. To all of our friends and those who will be.

We’ll get registration for the tournament hooked up in a bit through the website, but for now feel free to drop an email. Or a phone call. Or a kinnish wrapped in a twenty dollar bill for each person on your team.
